For a number of months Amanda and i had been planning a trip to Seattle. For a number of months I’d been plotting to propose on the trip. However, one of many scary things I’ve apparently learned from my father is how to plan surprises and lie in such a way as to throw people off the scent. So, I’d been saying i needed to save money for a ring and this and that for months now. Also, a day before the trip I told Amanda we could go by Tiffany's in Seattle and look at rings. See, how sneaky is that? I'd had the ring for two months. Now when I got the tickets for the trip I also booked some other tickets without Amanda knowing. I had told Amanda we'd get a rental car at the airport, but horizon airlines was overachieving that morning and got us to the airport nearly half an hour early and it didn't take long for the luggage to show up. So I quickly had to spill that Seattle wasn't our final destination. Instead we waited for the Kenmore Air shuttle to lake union to show up. After a short drive to the lake we got checked in for our float plane ride to Victoria B.C. The flight was awesome, it was a beautiful day and we cruised over Puget Sound at around 1000 feet. After flying 30-45 minutes we landed softly in Victoria Harbour. Now I didn't exactly have a place picked out ahead of time but I knew there were paths along the water. So as evening was approaching we took a walk and at a park bench looking out over the harbour I got down on one knee and proposed. Fortunately she said yes. I’m quite proud of being able to surprise her twice in one day. |
